Welcome! The Keough Lab is based in the School of BioSciences at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Our research focuses on the ecology and behaviour of marine organisms and communities in the temperate waters of southeastern Australia, spanning habitats including rocky shores, subtidal reefs, seagrass beds and sand/mudflats.
Research has centred on two broad themes:
- Larval biology of marine organisms
- Effects of disturbances and human activities in marine environments
You can explore these areas through the Research and Publications tabs, and see some of our study systems in the Images section.
The lab is led by Professor Mick Keough, who has retired from full-time teaching and research but remains active in marine ecology and biostatistics. You can find more details of statistics activity at qkstats.com, the website for Quinn & Keough, Experimental Design and Data Analysis for Biologists, 2nd edition. Mick Keough also provides ecological and statistical advice through Ecological Design and Analysis
New collaborative projects may still be possible — see the Contact page for details.
